History
St. Mary’s Native Corporation (SMNC) is an Alaska Native Village Corporation, established by the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) and was incorporated in the State of Alaska on June 21, 1973. SMNC originates from a thriving group of Yup’ik people on the Andreafsky River. SMNC owns approximately 129,000 acres of land in Western Alaska. There are 297 original SMNC shareholders with hundreds of shareholder descendants.

SMNC is an innovative for-profit corporation comprised of a family of businesses including one (1) holding company, four (4) active subsidiaries, two (2) partnerships, and one (1) non-profit organization with business lines currently operating in Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, Georgia, Texas, and the Marshall Islands.
As the parent company, SMNC oversees the management of its landholdings, accounting, human resources, non-profit foundation, Benefits Trust and Settlement Trust, and subsidiaries through the direction of its five-member Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Finance Director, and General Managers.
Our holding Company, Ikayuaq Services, LLC holds 4 subsidiaries. Those subsidiaries’ lines of business are mainly in manufacturing, construction, real estate management and development, and facilities services.
